Scripting Tools is a plugin for 4th Dimension that allows you to integrate your 4D application with any scriptable application.

It can start and stop applications, just by specifying the application's creator type, open or print documents, execute AppleScripts, send “Do Script” events to other applications like FileMaker Pro and execute VBA scripts in MS Word.

It even allows your own 4D application to become scriptable so you can automate it from other applications that support AppleScript.

On Mac OS X you get access to the command line prompt, so you can execute command line tools or shell scripts.
